Patty Mitchell

I used to have a chatty bio up. I don¹t now.

I am a wife of one. I am a mom of three (2 boys, 1 girl). My children are growing up. As of September 2003 I will have two in college. I find that amazing. I still feel young.

I play oboe and English horn. I teach at University of California, Santa Cruz and Santa Clara University. I teach privately as well.

I like to write poetry and I study poetry, especially form, in a poetry group.

I am a Christian. I have lots of questions. I have very few answers. But I know Jesus is an answer. I love God. Sometimes you wouldn¹t know it, though.

I like music. I like almost all kinds of music, but a few don¹t do anything for me, other than make my stomach a bit queasy. I think Mahler¹s fifth, and especially the slow movement, is a wonder. I think Bach is incredible. So is Prokofiev. The ³I love,,,² list is too long so I¹ll stop with that.

I like to read.

I like chocolate.

I like the pals I¹ve met here at the Christian Realist site, and some of them keep me from donning my hair shirt very often, but sometimes I get away with it despite their heroic attempts at trying to hide it. I love putting myself down. It¹s all about ego, you know? Someday I¹m going to make a t-shirt that states I¹m more humble than you.

I like irony. I hate ironing.

I have already written my epitaph, but I don¹t plan on having a headstone so I¹m not sure what to do with it:

I’ve finished playing,
so I’m not staying.

Over and out.
